This era features the elegant second decimal portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf, capturing the monarch with formal royal regalia. A significant expansion occurred within this batch in 1990, when low-value paper currency was officially phased out in favor of the iconic aluminum-bronze 1 Dollar (Kiwi) and 2 Dollars (Kotuku) coins.
