People's Republic of Hungary (1951–1989)

Regular circulation coins of the socialist period in Hungary (HPR). Characterized by communist state heraldry (Rákosi and Kádár coats of arms), the circular legend "MAGYAR NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG", and the heavy use of aluminum for fractional fillér denominations alongside heavy brass, cupronickel, and pure nickel alloys for higher forint values.

63
Republic of Hungary — Transitional Issue (1990–1991)

A short-lived circulation coin series issued immediately following the fall of the communist regime in Hungary. The coins feature the newly updated state title "MAGYAR KÖZTÁRSASÁG" and restore the traditional republican coat of arms with the Holy Crown of St. Stephen (Kossuth arms). This transition marks a complete shift in metallurgy, abandoning pure nickel in favor of aluminum-bronze and cupronickel.
