Following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the First Czechoslovak Republic introduced the Koruna as a symbol of its new sovereignty. This era is defined by the exceptional Art Deco designs of Otakar Španiel, featuring iconic images of Saint Wenceslas and the personification of the Republic. The collection spans the prosperous interwar years of high-quality silver and bronze strikes, through the turbulent wartime period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (zinc issues) and the independent Slovak State.
